Anita Lasek is a multidisciplinary artist who is currently based in Toronto. Lasek is in the process of completing her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Drawing and Painting at the Ontario College of Art and Design University.
In my recent work, I am exploring the relationship of myself in my surrounding space. I am very interested in the metamorphosis objects seem to endure when examined closely. The still-life is something I have been playing around with for almost the entirety of my artistic journey. Reflecting upon the reasoning why certain objects surround me or are of importance to me intrigues me. To further understand this thinking, I have been studying objects through painting, as well as researching deeper into this object-oriented ontology. I see the current state of my interest progressing towards a body of work which is exploratory to the understanding of space.
Lasek's work has appeared in numerous publications such as The Hamilton Spectator, The Herd Archive, and Maythorn Magazine. She has exhibited her work around Toronto as well as internationally in Warsaw, Poland.
